Proposition "J " will cost taxpayers 3.5 billion dollars. Let me tell you how this came about. There was a meeting of the current LACCD board (which strangles the 7 Community Colleges which make up the LACCD) where it was proposed to put a measure on the ballot to raise 5 Billion dollars, because the 2.2 Billion recieved from Prop A and Prop AA was just gone. One of the newer board members asked, Where did the money go? A question each taxpayer should be worried about.
The board then went behind closed doors and came back with the announcement that because they figured that 5 Billion would not pass, 3.5 Billion seemed like a better number. Hence the birth of Prop "J ".
The Board has decided to go with what has worked in the past. Prop "A " of 2001 money ran out, due to unexpected costs, so vote for Prop "AA" in 2003. Oh, Prop "AA" money has run out, due to unexpected costs, so vote for Prop "J ", and in a few years when Prop "J " money runs out, due to unexpected rising costs, be prepared to vote for Proposition "X" in 2011. And people will vote for it because, "Heck, we've already thrown 5.7 Billion at the LACCD Board, let's give them more to finish up." The question is, Will the be it? History of this Board says, NO. A couple years down the road, they will ask taxpayers to bail them out again. Just like the Banking system is getting taxpayers to do right now.
Vote NO on Proposition "J ". NO MORE JUNK.
